Paraglider Tethered to a Truck Goes Through UnderpassAugust 25, 2018 6:31 am
Yes, you read that headline correctly. In a promotion for the Volvo FH Truck, paraglider pilot Guillaume Galvani cheats death while strapped to a truck. As if that isn’t enough, the truck is going uphill on a steep winding road through the beautiful Dinaric Alps in Croatia.
Tow launching a paraglider is a popular way for pilots to fly in locations that lack hills. In most cases a vehicle drives in a straight line, quickly pulls the paraglider off the ground, and within a minute he or she releases from the rope with a quick release mechanism. What Guillaume does in this video is insane. Several times the truck slows down to a point where the paraglider can’t stay aloft and his feet drag on the ground. “Faster, faster” he yells over a radio to the driver. And then the overpass comes.
